Solitaire is a fun card game for all ages. It can be played on a computer or on a flat surface with a standard deck of 52 playing cards.
The game is designed for a single player with the main objective being to uncover all playing cards and to stack them in four sets, each in an ascending order from an Ace to a King according to the card suit, that is, diamonds, hearts, spades and clubs.
There are several variations of the game with Pyramid Solitaire and Golf Solitaire featuring among the top five.
The game of Solitaire is arranged, first by shuffling the deck and then allowing 28 cards to be dealt into seven arrays. The arrays are adjacent to each other moving from left to right. The number of cards in each array will depend on the position of that array, for example, the first array will have just one card, the second will have two cards, right up to the seventh array with seven cards. All arrays will have one card faced up and the remaining cards faced down.
Four blank spaces should be left at the top of the playing area to allow cards to be stacked in an ascending order from Ace to King according to each card suit, that is, diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades. The other cards, which will played during the game, are placed in a pile that can be positioned above or below the arrays.
